A dining room set from the Homecoming Collection by Kincaid Furniture

Not that I ever need an excuse to shop, but I love when the proceeds benefit a great cause. Recently, Kincaid Furniture announced a three-year partnership with Habitat for Humanity International, which provides affordable housing work throughout the world. The solid wood and custom upholstery manufacturer is the first furniture company to support Habitat with a multiyear national relationship beginning next spring.

For every item sold in its new Homecoming collection, Kincaid will donate 1 percent of the wholesale price to Habitat for Humanity. Kincaid’s new collection–the largest in the company’s 64-year history–will feature more than 100 pieces crafted of solid pine, solid maple, and solid walnut.

Designs for the new collection range from “rustic simplicity” to more sophisticated furnishings. The collection includes a custom upholstery program and various bedroom selections, dining room pieces, media consoles, accent tables, and storage items.

Homecoming is also the pilot collection for the American Home Furnishing’s Association’s multi-phased Eco3Home program, which means each piece either meets or exceeds all mandatory and voluntary standards for safety, health and environmental stewardship. Going green and helping others never felt (or looked) so good.

Although the Homecoming collection is not yet available in retail stores until spring 2011, other Kincaid Collections are available at the following Gardiners stores in Bel Air, Catonsville, Pasadena and Towson.
