Fall is the perfect time to start crossing off projects on your home and garden to-do lists. It’s not too hot and the infamous Maryland humidity has subsided. Plus, there’s no serious threat of being buried under four feet of snow.
As you prepare to tackle your home improvement projects, industry experts at the Maryland Home & Garden Fall Show may be able to steer you in the right direction, provide helpful tips and give you ideas on what to do next.
The fall show, which will be held this weekend in Timonium, will include more than 300 home improvement and better living exhibits, as well as free seminars on topics such as remodeling, tips on how to use color and fall floral design tips.
Contractor and author Steven Katkowsky, who has appeared on ABC-TV and the Live Well HD Network, will show you how to create the illusion of size and add up to three times the storage space in small bathrooms and kitchens, while Mike Ryan and Jason Brennan, of Aurora Solar Energy, will demonstrate how to use solar energy to reduce your bills.
While you’re at the home and garden show, you can schedule a free, 20-minute, one-on-one consultation with an expert from the American Society of Interior Designers. To make the most out of your appointment, bring magazine clippings, floor plans, fabric and paint swatches and photos of your home. You’ll learn about the design process and how to best work with a professional interior designer.
The Maryland Home & Garden Show at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium will be open Friday, October 15 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; Saturday, October 16 from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.; and Sunday, October 17 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Tickets are $9 for adults, $7 for seniors and $3 for kids 6-12. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake. Admission is free for children under 6 years old and active military, police, and fire employees with valid ID.
