Kelley Proxmire's redesign of the Washington Design Center lobby incorpoates a bold red, white, and black scheme to convey a sophisticated and tailored space.
What’s black and white and red all over? So goes the old joke, but interior designer Kelley Proxmire just created a new answer to the question with her redesign of the Washington Design Center lobby. One of our favorite designers, we’re proud to have featured Kelley’s work over the years, and happy to focus the spotlight on her recently unveiled WDC lobby, reinvented as a sophisticated residential living room space.
No small task to design the lobby of the building where interior designers come to shop, Kelley’s space sizzles in a palette of deep reds, rich patterns, and clean lines, which reflects her eye for creating luxuriously tailored spaces.
The lobby features furnishings, accessories, and home décor from 11 of the Design Center’s luxury showrooms. Some of my favorite details of the room include the Niermann Weeks Quatrefoil Cabinet, the Black and white Barnstable Chairs upholstered in the geometric Velvet Gate fabric with red accent pleats, the McDowell Coffee Table by Salvations from American Eye, the glass lamps by Vaughan from Hines & Co., and a subtly textured grasscloth wallpaper by Zoffany from Rist.
