From practical and environmental standpoints, living walls offer many benefits, including improved air quality and a fresh way to incorporate plants into urban design. But for botanical artist Edmundo Ortega, his main goal is to create pieces of art that are uplifting to all who see them.

Spending two decades in commercial construction motivated Ortega to begin creating living walls. He saw first-hand how urban development could sometimes deplete the world’s natural beauty. It is through his living installations that he hopes to restore just a little bit of that beauty in a new and exciting way.
