By Leatrice Eiseman
Although we swim in a world of color, surrounded by midnight blues, sunny yellows, and emerald greens, we usually take color for granted or relegate it to our subconscious. In The Color Answer Book, Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of Pantone Color Institute, teaches the intrepid decorator how to see relationships between colors and mood. A little dose of color, after all, can immediately boost a person’s quality of life.
The book is organized by chapters that include emotional responses, accessories, and nearly everything one can color. Each chapter is divided into questions and answers. Starting with the basics of the color wheel, the text explores the many psychological dimensions of color and its uses. Instead of a how-to book, Eiseman asks readers to know their preferences for color and use them to enhance their lives. The author’s experience and knowledge of the associative and emotional qualities of color lend weight to her conversational advice and add sharpness to her observations and examples.
